With a planned investment of 50 million euros, some of the country's most prestigious construction companies have participated in the project, in a joint venture formed by Sacyr, San José, Ferrovial, Dragados (ACS), Viales y Obras Públicas, Joca, and Urvios.
For the waterproofing and insulation of the roof, a highly specialized company such as Impernor Asbitra has been entrusted, responsible for choosing URSA XPS for the part of the project developed by Sacyr. Its Chief Procurement Officer, Alvaro Sierra, has stated that the main complexity of this great work has been the pressure of time with which contracts and subcontractors have had to carry out their work.
Approximately 6,000 square meters of URSA XPS NIII L have been installed in a double layer to create a 14 cm thick insulation system (7 cm thick each of the layers). Sierra highlights the performance of the chosen material and "above all its resistance, durability, thermal behavior, and easy installation. We are used to working with XPS from URSA because of its advantages for roofing. I would highlight its resistance to sudden changes in temperature or even to adverse weather phenomena which can not only damage the insulation but also the waterproofing".
URSA's extruded polystyrene panels and specifically the URSA XPS NIII L are ideal for insulating all types of roofs. Their advantages include their high load capacity and durability. In addition, the URSA XPS guarantees zero water absorption and excellent thermal insulation properties. This type of panel has great durability, keeping its properties unalterable against the passing of time. Its resistance to changes in temperature is proven by its capacity to remain unaltered at temperatures from -50ºC to +75ºC.
Impernor Asbitra specializes in large scale projects at the national level such as hospitals, shopping centers, and large residential developments, and it trusts URSA for the insulation of its roofs, "in addition to our choice, more and more construction companies, who look at the product certifications, demand that we install URSA’s materials".
The large participation of companies in this project is completed with the choice of four architectural firms (Estudio Chile 15 Arquitectos, Árgola Arquitectos, Estudios de Arquitectos y Consultores SN and AIDHOS Arquitect) and two engineering firms (I+P Ingeniería and Conurma Ingenieros Consultores).
The Community of Madrid inaugurated this new hospital center on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of December 2020, in the middle of the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 crisis.
