12.000 metres of URSA GLASSWOOL in the MED CAMPUS of Graz

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Graz was founded in 2004. This modern complex includes all of the faculty’s non-clinical premises: twelve institutes, four research centres, classrooms, an administrative building, start-up companies, and many leisure spaces for students, such as an assembly hall and canteens.

In total, 4,3 hectares of land are devoted to education in sciences such as Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, and Nursing. Teaching spaces for 1,200 students are planned for the MED CAMPUS. However, some of the facilities such as the assembly hall and open spaces can welcome up to 4,300 students. The MED CAMPUS also includes a canteen and several cafes. With a total planned floor space of 38,000 square metres, the complex offers job opportunities for 840 people.

Aiming to comply with the highest energy standards, ZWT project managers chose URSA GLASSWOOL to insulate all façades, installing over 12.000 square metres of this high-performing material. Thanks to these 10 to 12 centimetre thick panels, the building guarantees optimum comfort, both in summer and winter.

Additionally, the Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer in Medicine (ZWT) is also integrated into the new “medicine city”.

The ZWT was the first Austrian technology and research centre to achieve full physical and organisational integration into a university campus. The ZWT thus offers the perfect venue for cooperation between science and industry, between scientific research and the Medical University. The ZWT comprises 10,800 m² of laboratory and office space for research institutions, and spinoffs, as well as for national and international medical and biomedical companies.
