Description

The construction of the 9,000 m2 Hungarian Music House, part of the Liget Budapest Project, started in September 2018, and although the building's construction is rich in unique architectural solutions, the structure was ready by the summer of 2020. It opened its doors to music lovers in January 22nd, 2022.

The roof of the three-storey music venue, which remains below the canopy level of the trees in the city park and blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings, is a sight to behold. The building's interesting, playfully undulating, thickening and thinning 'floating' roof cladding is a design completely unique in Europe. The façade was made up of a series of 94 individually manufactured large insulated glass panels without horizontal structural divisions, each almost 12 metres in some sections. Dubbed the "Palace of Musical Wonders", the eco-friendly building is based on a design by Japanese star architect Sou Fujimoto, who has created an exciting symbiosis between the natural and the man-made environment, in the picturesque setting of the City Park Lake. Imagine an internationally renowned music forum, where not only 21st-century music is played in a unique setting, but the building itself is located in a unique atmosphere.

It has an open-air stage and a huge, ultra-modern, permanent, and temporary interactive music exhibition on its underground level. A unique 'sound dome' reveals the myriad faces of sound, allowing visitors to experience both the sound of music and the visual reality of the composers' imagination projected in space. For the hemispherical dome of the Hungarian House of Music, the acoustic designer chose the URSA FDP2 Vr glasswool insulation material that represents 21st-century quality and can be expected to provide long-term extremely high performance.

In its upstairs classrooms, which function as a music education center, visitors can learn about the musical arts - especially the centuries-old traditions of Hungarian music culture - in a fun way.
